How to Remove ‘On Behalf of’ in Gmail

To remove “on behalf of” and your Gmail address from messages you send in the Gmail web interface using another email address, set up Gmail to send mail via the alternate email address server.

Choose the Settings icon in Gmail. Select See all settings in the drop-down menu. Go to the Accounts and Import tab. Under the Send mail as heading, click edit info next to the other address you use with Gmail. Select Next Step. Select the button next to Send Through SMTP Server. Enter your email user name (usually the full email address or what Gmail has entered) next to Username. Type the email account’s password under Password. Typically, make sure Secure connection using TLS is selected. If the SMTP server only supports secure SSL connections, make sure Secure connection using SSL is selected for sending mail. Verify the SMTP port is correct: With TLS, 587 is the typical port; without, it’s 465. Select Save Changes.

Using these settings, Gmail uses your other email address server. Since Gmail is no longer the originating domain, there is no more “on behalf of.”
